ESTA to Offer Business Education Session at LDI

If you hire, manage, or supervise employees in your company, make plans now to attend the ESTA Business Education Committee session at ETS-LDI 2005. Dean Wisecarver will present a full day on "People Power: Hiring and Keeping the Best Employees."

The morning session, Shaping Workplace Attitudes, is an open, fast-paced discussion, allowing participants the opportunity to express their own perceptions about what makes people want to do a good job. A worker's attitude toward their work is often the most important factor affecting safe, efficient job performance and is determined almost totally by their self-image - the kind of person he believes himself to be. This session will help reveal the shaping process that occurs in your organization every day so you can take positive action to improve attitudes rather than unknowingly allow the shaping of poor attitudes. The session is designed to be fun for the participants yet yield important ideas every executive manager can use to improve employee job performance.

The afternoon session, Behavior-Based Interviewing, is a workshop that will help you improve your approach to interviewing and screening candidates to effectively hire the best person for the job. Knowing a candidate's actual past behavior in specific performance areas is the best indicator of how well the candidate will perform a specific job. Using a hands-on, workshop presentation, this session illustrates a unique style of interviewing that will reveal far more information about a candidate's past behavior than most typical interviewing questions, and offers very pragmatic techniques that may help you and your people avoid some of the most common hiring errors.

Dean Wisecarver is chief loss control consultant for Synebar Solutions, Inc. He has advised numerous companies (including ESTA members) on ways to make their workplaces better and safer. The session will be held at Rosen Plaza, ESTA’s official hotel for The Entertainment Technology Show-LDI 2005 from 9am to 4pm and lunch will be provided. Please contact MaryLisa Kinney in the ESTA office at 212.244.1505 or mlkinney@esta.org for more information or to register.
