Apr 24, 2003 12:00 PM

The esteemed professional audio faculty for the inagural Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC) includes John Kilgore, who is a sound designer as well as recording engineer. He has been director of recording services for Masque Sound & Recording since 1986, and he designed the 24-hour, 16-channel sound score for the Times Square Millennium Celebration. He has designed sound for musicals by Cannonball Adderly (Shout Up a Morning), Ray Davies (80 Days), Todd Rundgren (Up Against It), Roger Miller (the La Jolla production of Big River), Stephen Sondheim (the La Jolla revival of Merrily We Roll Along), and Randy Newman (Maybe I'm Doing It Wrong). Recent recording credits include every work by Steve Reich since The Cave, including City Life, Proverb, Nagoya Marimbas, and new recordings of Music for 18 Musicians (1999 Grammy Award), New York Counterpoint, Four Organs and Eight Lines, Triple Quartet, and Three Tales.

The BSMC will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29, at John Jay College Theatre in Manhattan, in conjunction with the 9th annual Broadway Lighting Master Classes (BLMC) June 25-27, and the 11th annual EDDY Awards on Friday, June 27. For further information on the BSMC as well as the BLMC, visit the Entertainment Design website or or the BLMC/BSMC website.
